I need a job

The above image is from The White Stripes' latest video, "You Don't Know What Love Is (You Do As You're Told)." It's the best image I could find of Jack's new favorite Gretsch guitar, with a likeness of Rita Hayworth emblazoned on the back. Fast forward to last Friday, when my brother bought Guitar Hero III. I bought one of the guitars off of him, shown below:

The point is, it looks a lot like Jack's. And since I have nothing better to do and I'm an enormous dork, I figured I'd put my own Rita on the back. So I did.

This is the back of the guitar before I painted anything on it. I plugged the holes with sticky tak in case I had to paint on them, and it seemed like a good idea.

This was the stencil. I made it with a picture and Photoshop, using the threshold feature and an online tutorial. It looks pretty good on here...that's her shoulder at the bottom with some kind of armband. I tried to get as close to Jack's as I could.

The finished product. I couldn't cut out everything so I had to improvise on the eyes (suck) and my only knowledge of spray paint comes from that foster kid in Free Willy, so it's a bit messy. Oh well.

UPDATE: I managed to clean up some of the extra paint around the top of her head so it doesn't look as shitty. And now have an entire roll of acetone and a can of spray paint have no idea what to do with them.

wow ryan, nice stencil work. your dedication to Mr. White is phenomenal. Remind me to tell you about that time I almost spent $700 on an airline guitar like his.

Only Ryan. That being said, it looks real nice. I kinda think you should paint the buttons black white and red...
